Changing Together is dedicated to elevating others in overoming Substance Abuse, Mental Health and homelessness in Los Angeles through a variance of programs and partnerships. We are partnered with The Mayor of Los Angeles Karen Bass.
Karen Bass and Changing Together are working hand and hand to address a variance of matters including Housing , college, food, psychiatric care, Naxolone distribution, clothing and other needs directly to the residentially challenged of Los Angeles.
Some of her current programs and progressions on the struggle to address people overcoming temporary strife are:
Inside Safe
A program that clears encampments and provides temporary housing in hotels and motels for the residents. The goal is to eventually move people into permanent housing. From December 2022 to March 2024, Inside Safe moved 2,482 people into hotels, but only 440 of them moved on to permanent housing.
Decreased street homelessness
The 2024 Greater Los Angeles Homeless Count showed a 10% decrease in people living on the street, the first double-digit decrease in at least nine years.
Decreased makeshift shelters
The 2024 Greater Los Angeles Homeless Count showed a 38% decrease in makeshift shelters.
Increased permanent housing
The 2024 Greater Los Angeles Homeless Count showed an all-time high in people moving into permanent housing.
Vowed not to bus homeless people out of L.A. for 2028 Olympics
Bass has vowed not to bus homeless people out of Los Angeles for the 2028 Olympics.
The opoid epedimic claimed more than 6,000 lives in California last year alone. Of the 6,000 deaths more than half frojm Fetynol. Fetynol is now the leading cause of death in adults in the United States. In Los Angeles county deaths increased 109 in 2016 to 1910 in 2022.

In Los Angeles County in 2022 homeless where 41.5 times more likely to die from overdoses than people with stable housing. The number for the homeless continues to increase at a unfathomable rate. The mortaility rate overall for both housed and homeless has platued when factored in rthe same equation from 2021-2022. The balance was due to a 2.5% increase in Naxolone distribution.
Number of people that died in the United States from Opiod deaths
That is over 3,000 lives that where saved almost solely due to Naxolone. Although a promising move in the right direction it comes with sense of any as to what is left to be done.
We have free Narcan distribution sites art 27 locations across Los Angeles. Changing Together is partnering with Path and Lease UP to get those facing a housing crisis and new start to a new life. LeaseUp is a PATH initiative that partners with service providers and property owners, developers, and managers in order to quickly fill vacancies and help those at risk of homelessness find and maintain housing. With our streamlined rental process, expert customer support, and comprehensive protections, we are bringing financial stability to property owners and housing stability to communities. Since launching in 2018, LeaseUp has become the go-to leasing service for over 5,300 property owners, service providers, and tenants countywide. Changing Together has a national deal with Verizon service via Life Line for pad and phone service through our partner. Qualifying in devices requires a food card, medicaid, SSA or disability for lIfe line.
Lifeline is a government program created in 1984 by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) under President Ronald Reagan and allows low-income individuals the opportunity to obtain affordable communication services.
The program’s goal is to offer discounted costs of phone and internet service for qualified low-income individuals to ensure they stay connected to. When overcoming obsticles via medical, family, residential displacement, mental health, family or naxolone access being in touch with your resources is vital. Let us help you or someone you know keep in touch with their future.
Changing Together is working with The California Dream Act to enable to use utilize the most vital resource they have, their mind. The Ca Dream Act allows eligible undocumented students to apply for and receive state-based financial aid and institutional scholarships. Its passage symbolizes a milestone victory for undocumented students and allies who organized and advocated for increased access to college in the state.
The CA Dream Act can help you as an undocumented student attend college!
The types of aid included in the CA Dream Act are Cal Grants, UC Grants, State University Grants, the California College Promise Grant, EOP or EOPS grants. It also includes the Middle-Class Scholarships and school-specific scholarships. The CA Dream Act can also give you access to Dream Loans by clicking any picture to the right!
